Он ответил:
"Когда он смотрит, ты как на причале,
И видишь нос громадины "Куин Мэри",
Плывущей на тебя всё тише".

Нынче
Я словно сам на пирсе наблюдаю,
Как он гребёт от нас, следя за мной,
А сплющенное дерево кормы
Упрямо бьётся, рассекая волны,
Почти не продвигаясь.

Watching the prow of the Queen Mary
Come towards you, very slowly'.

Now it seems
I'm standing on a pierhead watching him
All the while watching me as he rows out
And a wooden end-stopped stern
Labours and shimmers and dips,
Making no real headway.
